Asinara National Park

How to visit the Park

Introduction

Asinara Island, after 115 years of being closed to the public due to the presence of the prison, had more than 85,000 visitors in its first years of tourist activity, which allowed for experimentation with early ways of visiting.

The park, in compliance with environmental protection and preservation regulations and pending management tools, has also outlined a programmatic framework within which operators have the opportunity to activate economic initiatives capable of providing quality services for visitors to the protected area.

The following are some pointers to facilitate how to visit and make the most of all the opportunities offered by the Park.

With whom to visit the Park and Marine Protected Area.

Visiting services, offered by the licensed operators, are regulated by the rates worked out by the operators. For more information on how to visit, you can consult the list below of “OPERATORS OF THE ASINARA NATIONAL PARK AND PROTECTED MARINE AREA “. Supporting visitors on the island are the kiosk in Fornelli; the bar service in Cala Reale; and in Cala d’Oliva, the L’asino bianco restaurant, the Locanda del Parco and the hostel-restaurant in Cala d’Oliva, which provide refreshment and overnight services. The Park advises visitors to travel to the island accompanied by the authorized operators who provide all the necessary support to enjoy the natural beauty on the island. Given the heat of the summer period, however, it is recommended to make sure you always have adequate water supplies and necessary sun protection with you. Visitors arriving at La Reale by ferry in territorial continuity with the municipality of Porto torres will receive information from guides and the visitor center about possible activities and visits to Asinara.
